KeyWhere - Getting Started

When you receive your KeyWhere order, there may be several boxes, each containing different parts of your order. Ensure you have unpacked everything from all packages.

Step 1: Installing the Hooks.

Note: The hooks can only be inserted into the panel in one way. This is roughly 90 degrees counter-clockwise from upright. Sometimes these hooks can be very firm, the included spanner will assist with locking them into place.

  • It will save time during the assignment process if you go through and attach an RFID tag to each keyset now.
  • Try to keep the length of the keyset down to keep the board as neat as possible.

Step 2: Hanging the KeyWhere Panel.

Note: We recommend you engage a licensed and experienced builder or tradesperson to hang the panel to ensure safety and prevent damage.

  • Your tradesperson should first mount the 2 brackets securely and accurately onto the wall. We have included some screws and plugs designed for drywall/gyprock walls.
  • Once the brackets are up, simply slide your panel over the brackets, then secure with the Allen key and grub screw from the front of the panel.

Step 3: Connecting the panel to power & WiFi

Note: The power supply can support up to four linked panels. If you need to connect more than four panels, please use the additional power supply provided.

  • Beneath the panel, you will find two power jacks, either of which can be used. The second jack is intended for connecting multiple panels in a "daisy-chain" configuration. Once connected to a wall outlet, the panel will power on automatically.

The KeyWhere app can be downloaded for Android or Apple devices using the links below:

  • Setting Up Your Panel

Once the panel is powered on, the "Wi-Fi" indicator at the top will flash red and orange. Open the app and follow the prompts to ensure you are prepared for the setup. Proceed to the Wi-Fi configuration page.

  • Important: Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you intend to connect the panel to.

Enter your Wi-Fi password and press "Connect." The Wi-Fi indicator on the panel will cycle through different states before emitting a beep and turning solid green. This indicates that the panel is successfully connected to the internet and the KeyWhere system.

Step 4: Hanging up the keys

Key Setup Process

  • To continue the setup process in the app, navigate to the key hanging page. If you are on the dashboard, simply select the "Continue Setup" option.
  • The top of the screen displays the key number that the board is currently waiting for. You must also select the panel you are working on. If unsure, don’t worry—the selected panel will flash, confirming your selection. Hang the key displayed on the screen in the corresponding position on the board. Note that each row contains 10 hooks, with the first hook on the left side of each row numbered 1, 11, 21, and so on. This is also an opportunity to verify that the keys match the expected property.
  • Once the key is hung correctly, it will be indicated by a green light. The app will display a green tick and automatically proceed to the next key. If the app does not advance, but you see a green light, manually click "Next." (Refer to the accompanying video for a visual guide if needed.)

Repeat this process for each key until all are hung. Ensure you switch panels as necessary.

TIP: If you cannot locate a key or if it is currently unavailable, click "Skip." The app will reserve that hook/position for later.

Note: Be sure to leave a gap on the board for any skipped keys.

WiFi Connection

  • Re-enter the WiFi password and press "Connect." The WiFi light on the panel will change through a few states before emitting a beep and turning solid green, indicating that the panel is now connected to the internet and the KeyWhere system.
